ST. JAMES PARISH LOUISIANA
St. James is bounded by Lafourche Parish on the south, Assumption and Ascension on the west, Ascension and Livingston Parishes on the north and St. John the Baptist on the east. The parish is bisected by the Mississippi River. The area to the west of the Mississippi River is located in the Barataria Basin, but on the eastern side of the parish is part of the Pontchartrain Basin. The parish’s land area covers approximately 241 square miles.
